Traditionally, the homecoming dance is the first major date on your busy social calendar, and it’s a time for meeting new students and saying hi to all your friends you haven’t seen since the end of the last semester. Homecoming is an exciting social event that prepares you for the up and coming school year, and with that in mind, here are some useful tips for getting it right on the night.

  • The Homecoming Dress – Obviously, this is something that should be chosen with a great deal of care, and with gorgeous 2018 homecoming dresses available online, there’s no need to spend hours trawling shopping malls looking for that perfect homecoming outfit. Not only that, you are likely to encounter lower than retail prices, and as we all know, every little saving helps.
  • Hair & Make Up – The homecoming is no time for experimenting with either, and if ever there was a time to pull out all the stops, this is it. If you have a regular hair stylist, show her some images of your dress (or better still, let her see you wearing it) and she will be able to work her usual magic. If you are proficient at applying makeup, then tastefully put some colour on your face. A pale blusher or some glitter will make you shine. Don’t be tempted to go for something completely new, as the homecoming is not the place for testers. There are guides available online on the styles that are in for 2018, with some really great ideas for hair and make up.
  • Techie Prep – You will be snapping away all night with your smartphone camera, so make sure you either have your charger or a spare battery with you. These will fit snugly into that small carry bag you’re planning to use (which needs to be colour-coordinated) and you won’t find yourself in the position of running out of power when it really matters. Wipe all the junk from your phone memory, as you will also want to video some of the highlights, and turn off all those apps that run in the background, which will give you an extra 30 minutes, something you might be so thankful for!
  • Shoes – Getting this wrong could be disastrous, and make sure the heel is of such a height that your dress touches the ground – nothing more, nothing less. The thought of not wearing high heeled shoes at a homecoming really shouldn’t enter your head, and if you’re not so comfortable with high heels, don’t go higher than 3 inches. Shoes must be comfortable, so make sure you acquire them early enough to have a few test sessions. There are online boutiques where you can buy the dress, shoes and all the hip accessories, and the online retailer will have an extensive collection of designer homecoming dresses and the many accessories.

The homecoming is an opportunity to practice looking good for special occasions – something that will prove to be invaluable in your career quest – and with the right online boutique, it’s a one stop shop to be ready for that special night. These are the times in our lives when we cherish the moments, and with a stunning oufit and great hair, you’ll be remembered as the girl with style and panache.
