Given the fact it has been quite cold for a while now, I am guessing that most of you have already gone out and bought a good coat and some winter boots. But, if, like me, you are still feeling the cold a bit, perhaps now is the time to treat yourself to a few little extras. Below are a few suggestions of items you may find will help you to stay that little bit warmer.
Let’s start with your feet. If they are cold you are going to feel pretty miserable (I know I do). Treating yourself to some hosiery is the best way to solve this issue. I found some great styles at www.jdwilliams.co.uk, and they have sales going on right now.
Layer your socks
You will be pleasantly surprised by how much warmer your feet feel when you simply put on an extra pair of socks. They do not have to be particularly thick. In fact, a lot of people find that their feet feel warmer wearing two pairs of thin socks instead of just one thick pair. If you have not tried this, why not give this approach a go.
Should you find that this does not keep your feet warm, you might want to read this article. It explains that chronically cold feet can be a symptom of an underlying health issue and tells you what you need if you suspect that is the case.
Use tights to keep your legs warmer
On very cold days a lot of people turn to thermal underwear for extra warmth. This works, you definitely feel warmer when you wear a pair of long johns under your jeans. But, did you know that wearing tights instead can be just as effective? Again, it is well worth giving this a go. Tights do not cost a lot of money and provided you are careful with them they can easily last all season. When temperatures drop around here, my mum always calls to ask if I am wearing tights under jeans 🙂
If you find that tights cut into, you consider wearing hold up stockings instead. These are just as effective. You can get around the fact that part of you is not covered by an extra layer of by wearing a long shirt and tucking it in.
Hats gloves and scarves
Keeping all of your extremities covered has a huge impact on how cold you will feel. So, if you have not already done so, invest in a set of gloves a warm hat and a scarf.
Ideally, you want the gloves to big enough to allow you to wear a pair of thin thermal gloves under them, on cold days. It is also a good idea to buy the kind that enables you to use your smart devices without needing to remove them.
When choosing a hat, opt for the type that covers your ears as well. This will make a huge difference to how warm you feel.
