3 Ways To Make A House A Home When You Move In

Buying a property is exciting. It makes no difference whether it is the first house you have ever bought, or if you’ve moved a number of times; there is something about a new property that gives you a great feeling about the future, and makes it feel as though anything is possible.

However, if you are buying a house that someone else has already lived in, there will always be parts of it at least that you want to change to make your own. Here are some ways to do it so that you can enjoy the excitement that much more.

A New Bathroom

The bathroom is perhaps the most personal space in your home, so it makes sense that many people would want to change this room first of all. It is worth taking your time, though, to ensure that the new bathroom is exactly as you want it, and speaking to experts at Beautiful Bathrooms Letchworth will give you an idea of what your budget can cover, and how you might be able to design the room to look and feel its best.

You can make small changes such as changing the toilet seat (this is something the majority of people will do when they move into a new property) or lighting, to something more major such as changing the entire suite, adding a shower, or re-tiling. What you do will depend on your budget and whether or not you liked the original bathroom in the first place.

Add A Coat Of Paint

In most of the rooms in the house, assuming it is an older property, or one that people have lived in for some time, there will be evidence of the former owners. Simply adding a coat of paint will cover this up, whether it is scuff marks, scratches, or perhaps children’s crayon scribbles.

You don’t have to use standard magnolia coloured paint to do this. This is your chance to pick any colour that works for you, so take a look at the furniture you have and the décor such as the curtains and carpet, and if you want to change the wall colours, then this is your chance. You might, for example, have one feature wall that is a bright colour (or even wallpapered) and then paint the rest a more neutral tone.

Front Door

You may have fallen in love with the property as soon as you saw it from the outside, and that could well include the front door in which case you won’t want to change it. However, if this was not the case and it was the interior that made your decision to buy for you, you can think about changing the exterior to look new and more to your taste, starting with the front door.

Front doors can be painted to look different. You can do this yourself, or have a professional in to do it for you. If you are going down the DIY route, don’t forget to sand the door down thoroughly first so that the new paint will stick, otherwise your hard work will be for nothing.

Of course, you could change the door entirely if you prefer, as this will give the property a completely new look that is all your own choice.
