The new year is fast approaching and many of us want to start the new decade with a memorable experience. Now, New Year’s Eve can quickly become a bit of a disappointment. People have high hopes and high expectations – and sometimes it can be difficult to meet these. But if you’re a bit more relaxed about things, you can give everyone a good night by arranging a New Year’s party. Clubs and bars can be unpredictable in terms of atmosphere and events, so by holding a party, you have a bit more control over what happens at the turn of 2020. Of course, there’s going to be a lot of planning involved. But there are plenty of steps you can take to make your party a roaring success. Here are just a few different areas you might want to focus on when it comes to planning and hosting the perfect party this New Year’s Eve!

Set a Budget

First things first, you’re going to have to set a budget. You don’t want your planning to get out of hand and find yourself in debt for the sake of a party. Decide how much money you’re willing to spend on this event and make sure you don’t exceed it while you are planning. Budgeting is essential for a good time – you may feel miserable if you know you’re going to be struggling going forward as a direct result of this party. This is a tough time of year for money as it is. Remember you don’t necessarily have to fork out a lot. Your party could be something as simple as having your nearest and dearest round for some snacks and board games!

A Guestlist

Another thing you need to take care of early on when it comes to planning a New Year’s party is to decide who you want to attend. So many people make the mistake of going full speed ahead with their plans, only to then realise they don’t know who’s invited and finding that numbers that they want to attend are too big for their chosen venue, that there aren’t enough drinks available to cover everyone, or a number of other issues. So, come up with a guestlist first. This will help to organise the whole of the rest of the event. Once you’ve got a guestlist, send out your invites. Request that people RSVP, so you can have a good idea of attendance and numbers to be expected.

A Venue

Once you know how many people are attending, you can start scouting out a venue. Venues can be pretty important, as they set the tone for the party. They can range from your own home to a rented place. Just make sure if you’re hosting your party in your own home that you know everyone attending and have trust in them. You don’t want your home being damaged or things being taken by others.

Music

It’s also a good idea to organise music in advance of the event. If you’re having a small party from home, investing in some decent speakers and coming up with a pre-created playlist is a good idea. If you have a bigger venue, you might want to consider DJs for hire. Just make sure they’re aware of what kind of playlist you want, so they can prepare in advance and everyone can be pleased with the music.

Food and Drink

If you’re throwing a party, you will also have to organise food and drink. This is important! Guests will get hungry and thirsty throughout the night. Organise snacks rather than a sit down meal – unless your party is based around the concept of a sit down meal. Make sure to cater to everyone’s dietary needs and preferences. This can mean making sure there are vegetarian and vegan options, gluten free options, and nut free options. This can help make sure nobody goes without. You may also want to request that people bring their own alcoholic beverages at your home or bring money for alcoholic beverages at a venue, as the cost of supplying these can quickly mount up.

An Outfit

Of course, you’re going to want to look good at your party. If you’ve come up with a dresscode, make sure you stick to it. Shop in advance so you have time to try things on and needn’t end up in a last minute dash to the shops to find something appopriate. This will reduce stress and you’ll probably be able to find the perfect outfit at a cheaper price too!

Follow the above advice and your New Year’s Eve party should all go according to plan! This is a great chance to wrap up the year surrounded by your loved ones!
