To my shame I have never been to Venice… I have no idea why, but I have a hunch that I am waiting for a special occasion… Like the opportunity to stay Venice’s most beautiful, best-located and most celebrated luxury hotel. That would be Gritti Palace, a 1475 palazzo located on the Grand Canal, across the water to Santa Maria della Salute and Palazzo Venier dei Leoni.
It went through a 15-month restoration process that ended in February 2013, during which were restored all of the hotel’s hundreds of precious paintings and other artefacts, and added a small (two double treatment rooms) but exquisite Acqua di Parma spa.
