Perhaps you’ve proposed (or been proposed to) and now you and your partner are ready to take the next step; going through with your vows. Unfortunately, weddings often take well over a year of planning which can consume a lot of your time. This is because there are so many different services to hire that it can feel incredibly overwhelming and stressful.

One of the most straightforward solutions is to simply hire a wedding planner. Unfortunately, a wedding planner can be quite expensive and could even add to the stress if you’re not being careful. The other option is to handle all of the wedding planning yourself, but this can be quite a tricky option as well if you’re not experienced and don’t have any friends that could lend you a hand.

That’s why we believe that one of the most economical and efficient ways to plan your wedding is to plan it in a much shorter time frame. Not only does this make it cost less if you hire wedding-related services such as a wedding planner, but it also helps to limit your budget since you’ll be less prone to hiring luxurious well-known venues and instead think outside of the box.

It’s certainly one of the most creative ways to undertake wedding planning and by forcing you to think creatively in order to have a fantastic wedding, there’s a lot of appeal to this type of wedding planning strategy. So in this article, we’re going to explain just how you can plan a memorable wedding in under a year.

  1. Begin with the wedding date

There are plenty of simple things that you should get out of the way first such as your wedding date. A wedding date should be planned at least a year in advance if possible, but it’s perfectly fine to set it a couple of months in advance if you’re willing to accept that some people may not have time for it.

  1. Look at which venues or restaurants you want to use

You likely won’t be able to pick a top venue because they’re usually all booked for up to an entire year, so you need to think outside of the box when it comes to venues and restaurants. You want to book a place that’s easy to reach so that your guests are more likely to come on such short notice.

You should start by making a list of venues that you want to include in your wedding and then contact each one to see if they’re available on the date that you’ve set. Since it’s such short notice you likely won’t be able to get the services that you’re looking for, but that’s just a sacrifice you’ll have to make if you want to take the stress out of wedding planning and complete it within just a year.

  1. Find your officiant

There are many different types of people that are capable of legally marrying you and your partner. You’ll need someone to be able to stand up and help you exchange your vows or perform all of the necessary legally-binding things to ensure that the marriage is secure and legitimate. If you’re contacting a venue that provides wedding-related services then this could be handled by the staff members or even your wedding planner.

  1. Book your entertainment and additional services

From hiring a wedding photographer to a DJ, this is the stage where you’ll want to consider what services you’ll be adding to your wedding to make it a fantastic event. We recommend thinking outside the box and hiring entertainment that you don’t normally see at weddings for a more memorable impact, but sticking to traditions such as dancing and outdoor wedding games is perfectly acceptable too.

  1. Purchasing your wedding attire

Next, you’ll want to ensure that you get your wedding attire. For a dress, this often means purchasing something off the rack but if there are services that allow you to request a rushed order, then you may be able to get a custom-fit gown for your needs. Do keep in mind that this will be incredibly expensive, so it’s more budget-friendly to buy a gown off the rack. The same applies to custom-fit suits for the groom–buying something ready to wear is far more time and money efficient than having something custom-made.

  1. Remember your marriage license

Planning your marriage in such a short time frame can be rather fun and exhilarating, just don’t forget to get yourself a marriage license because all of the paperwork can take quite a bit of time to deal with.
