There is so much going on there that you won’t get bored even if you are there for months, and you will be able to experience much of what it is that brings people to America in the first place. But there is so much going on there that it is hard to know what is most important to see and do. To help you out, let’s look at the three top reasons to go to NYC in the first place.

Theatre

There are really two major theatre spots in the world which are constantly vying for dominance with each other. One is London’s West End, which is definitely somewhere you should go at some point too. The other, of course, is New York’s  Broadway. If you have never been to NY before, this is probably something that you are going to want to look into as soon as possible, and you will probably want to plan it out in advance in order to make sure that you can see what you want to see. There are so many classic and new broadway shows which you might be dying to see, and you should get your tickets early to avoid disappointment. You absolutely have to see a few shows when you are going to NYC for any length of time.

30 Rockefeller Plaza

For true TV nerds, this is one of those pilgrimage destinations which you will definitely need to consider when you go to NY. It is the home of NBC, and so the home of some of America’s oldest and finest broadcasts ever, along with some current ones that you might well be enjoying too. One of the best ways to enjoy a visit to 30 Rock is to go and see a live recording of Saturday Night Live. Although you have to be a little lucky to grab a ticket early on, if you hang around in the morning on the Saturday you can often get standing tickets from the booth there, on a first come first served basis. It’s definitely worth the wait if it means seeing this true institution up close in the flesh.

The Guggenheim

People often get so caught up in the shopping and extravaganza of New York that they forget it is also one of the cultural highlights of the world. It has a number of museums and art galleries and the like, and the one that probably attracts the most tourists is the Guggenheim. This is a testament to its dedication to artistry, and it is somewhere that you will absolutely want to make sure you visit whenever you happen to be in the area.
