How to Live More Adventurously

Not everyone is always content with a routine and a predictable lifestyle. Even the most organized, structured person occasionally craves the feeling of freedom that comes with living more adventurously and spontaneously. Life is about experiences and creating happy memories, which can be difficult to do when everything starts to become monotonous and expected.

Whether you fancy just dipping your toe or throwing yourself headfirst into a more adventurous lifestyle, these tips will help you out.

Go Somewhere New

Travel is one of the best ways to live a more adventurous life. Just because most of the world has been not only discovered but populated and commodified doesn’t mean it isn’t still worth exploring. Start by taking some friends or family to a place you’ve always wanted to visit, then branch out and take trips to countries that never occurred to you before. If you would prefer to avoid flying for phobia or environmental reasons, you can hitch a ride on cargo ships for a fraction of the price. The stories you’ll pick up along the way will be legendary.

Say Yes to Opportunities

Every now and then, a seemingly small opportunity will arise and be dismissed before its potential can even be acknowledged. This could be something as minor as a colleague suggesting drinks after work or something huge like a job offer in a faraway country. Unless you truly have a solid excuse not to say yes, such as prior engagements or feeling unsafe, then seize as many of these opportunities as you can. Security and steadfastness are fine for a reliably mundane life, but sometimes the best decisions come from a moment of willingness and uncertainty.

Eat Experimentall

Sometimes once you find your favorite selection of meals, it can be difficult to persuade yourself to venture further with your experimentation, whether cooking at home or visiting restaurants. There’s something thrilling about discovering a new dish that you had never tried before, but that becomes a new favorite almost immediately. For example, once you’ve tried a particular kind of takeaway noodles, you might be inspired to cook them yourself or share the experience with your friends.

Create a Reliable Base

Adventure and risk are all very well, but if your everyday life is too chaotic and stressful, then it can be hard to see why anyone would want a life with even less predictability. The best way to enjoy a spontaneous and adventurous life is to have an undercurrent of security to protect you. Make a list of tasks that must be completed before you give yourself time to go wild. Say yes to new experiences, but never at the cost of important life necessities.

Know What Matters to You

The main point that will help you live a more adventurous life is to know what matters the most to you. Are you romantic? Career driven? A total free spirit? Give yourself time to do some soul-searching and uncover what you want your life to be like. Once you know, go out and shape it.
